ETH Zurich
ETH is an undergraduate route taught primarily in German. It must not be presented as a standard English-taught school-leaver alternative.
Checked: . Conditions depend on programme, qualification and intake.

After school in Kazakhstan
For Kazakhstan, the official list links the school certificate and admission to the intended subject at a recognised university with the reduced entrance exam; otherwise a comprehensive exam may be required. ETH decides after a complete application.
Admission tests
A reduced four-subject or comprehensive eight-subject examination may apply. SAT is not a universal replacement for this route.
Language and proficiency
The main bachelor teaching language is German; ETH German-proficiency requirements apply. TOEFL does not replace this language condition.
Selection statistics
Not published in this guide: comparable statistics for the chosen programme and international-applicant category have not been verified. A university-wide admission rate must not be treated as an individual Kazakhstan applicant’s probability.
An overall admission rate is not your personal probability. No exam score guarantees admission.
Tuition and full budget
From autumn 2025, tuition is CHF 2,190 per semester for foreign students covered by the rule. Other fees and Zurich living costs are separate; eligibility for another rate must be checked individually.
Funding and obligations
Do not present the master-level ESOP as undergraduate funding. Check undergraduate financial support and its nationality, residence and study-stage conditions.
Preparation and application route
1. Choose a ETH Zurich programme and confirm that your qualification is eligible. 2. Check subject and language requirements in the official source. 3. Prepare translated school documents and the required results. 4. Work out the full budget and check any separate funding application before submitting. 5. Apply under your intake rules, then check offer conditions and visa requirements.
Illustrative example — hypothetical scenario
Hypothetical scenario: a Kazakhstan school leaver with strong English considers ETH. They learn that bachelor study requires German and check the qualification and entrance-exam route. Their budget includes semester tuition, fees and Zurich living costs. The master-level ESOP is not treated as undergraduate funding.
