Progress is not always a straight line.
Criteria met in each piece of work. Select a point.
Met out of 6
Dashed marker: partial assessment; this point is not connected to the line.
Only 4 of 6 criteria were assessed in W1, so it is not directly comparable with a complete assessment. W2 used help; W3–W5 were independent. The line does not measure language level.

Hello, I would like to attend the writing workshop on 22 May. Could you confirm the venue and let me know whether I should bring my laptop? I am travelling from another city, so a reply by Monday would help me plan my trip. Thank you for your time. Best regards, Alex.

Which answers support an observation and what needs a teacher’s decision.
Report format and access are agreed separately.
Research behind the approach
Useful feedback names a specific difficulty. A new task helps check whether the learner can apply it independently.
Feedback research
A meta-analysis of 435 studies: effects vary with feedback content and learning conditions.

These studies concern learning in general. They do not measure Classroom’s effectiveness or promise exam-score gains.
CLASSROOM
Before you begin.
Is this an official TOEFL score?
No. This example shows the number of Email criteria met in each piece of work and the evidence behind each assessment. These are internal Classroom observations, not an official TOEFL score or an exam-result prediction.
Why is a teacher needed?
Svetlana chooses priorities, reviews complex cases and makes teaching decisions. Data helps her see the evidence.
What if there is little work so far?
We show what evidence exists and what still needs checking. A revision with a hint cannot establish independence.
