Harvard University

Harvard College considers international undergraduate applications. Do not confuse these rules with Visiting Undergraduate Students or graduate admissions.

QS 2026 · worldwide #5

Checked: . Conditions depend on programme, qualification and intake.

After school in Kazakhstan

Applicants submit school records, recommendations and the other application materials. International qualifications are considered in their educational context.

Admission tests

SAT or ACT is required, with separate exceptional-access provisions. TOEFL does not replace SAT/ACT.

Language and proficiency

For regular first-year admission TOEFL/IELTS is not compulsory; strong English is essential. Scores may be submitted voluntarily.

Selection statistics

Class of 2029: 47,893 applicants and 2,003 admitted, including 75 from the waiting list. These cover the overall intake; reported student geography is not citizenship. No individual probability is calculated from these counts.

An overall admission rate is not your personal probability. No exam score guarantees admission.

Tuition and full budget

2026/27 tuition is USD 62,226 per academic year; billed tuition, fees, housing and food total USD 91,634. Including books, personal expenses and transport, the budget is USD 95,134–100,134 before aid; required insurance adds USD 4,954 unless suitable coverage applies.

Funding and obligations

Aid meets the demonstrated financial need of admitted students. International students are eligible for the same assistance; it is not a high-SAT award.

Preparation and application route

1. Choose a Harvard University programme and confirm that your qualification is eligible. 2. Check subject and language requirements in the official source. 3. Prepare translated school documents and the required results. 4. Work out the full budget and check any separate funding application before submitting. 5. Apply under your intake rules, then check offer conditions and visa requirements.

Illustrative example — hypothetical scenario

Hypothetical scenario: a Kazakhstan school leaver considers Harvard College. They distinguish required SAT/ACT from optional TOEFL and allocate time to school results, written materials and academic English. The family gathers documents for need-based aid. A high SAT score is not entered into the budget as a guaranteed scholarship.
